Application Requirements

The Department of Health and Nutrition does not accept applications for Dietician majors.

Those with foreign nationality who meet the following requirements (1) to (4) and have a status of residence that does not hinder university enrolment under the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act (women), and those who have obtained or are expected to renew their visa status by April 2026 (women).

  1. Those who have reached 18 years of age as of 1 April 2026.

  2. Those who fulfill any of the following conditions relating to the course of study, etc.
    1. Those who have completed 12 years of school education in a foreign country (including those expected to complete in March 2026), or those who have been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as being equivalent to this.
    2. Those who have completed, or are expected to complete by 31 March 2026, a course at a school corresponding to a senior high school in a foreign country, which meets the requirements of having completed a course of 11 years or more as designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
    3. Those who have completed school education in a country that does not require 12 years for the completion of secondary education, and who have completed or are expected to complete by 31 March 2026 a course preparing students to enter Japanese universities (preparatory education course), as designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
    4. Those who have been recognised as having academic ability equivalent to or higher than a high school graduate by the University’s pre-screening for the recognition of application eligibility.
  3. Those who meet any of the following criteria regarding Japanese language proficiency:
    1. Those who have passed N2 or above in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (limited to tests conducted in 2024 and 2025) at the time of application.
    2. Those with an Examination for Japanese University Admission score of 220 or above in Japanese language (limited to tests conducted in 2024 and 2025), comprising reading, listening and listening-reading comprehension.
    3. Those who have been recommended by a Japanese language school as having Japanese language skills equivalent to those in a) and b) above.
  4. Those who fall under either of the following categories regarding the “Student” status of residence under the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.
    1. Those residing in Japan who have “Student” status at the time of application.
    2. Those residing outside of Japan who, in principle, can obtain “Student” status after enrolment.

Selection method

Selection is made on the basis of an interview and results from the applicant’s school.
Interviews are conducted by two or three interviewers for each candidate. Interview times vary depending on application qualifications. Application qualifications (3) a) and b) will be 30 minutes, and (3) c) will be 45 minutes.

Application procedure

The University uses the online application system for all entrance examinations. For details, see the separate ‘Internet Application Guide’ Entrance examination fee: 30,000 yen (Non-refundable under any circumstances).

Application documents

Please enclose a set of application documents in a commercially available A4-size envelope and send it to the Admissions and PR Department by post (express or registered mail). (Must arrive no later than the last day of application registration)

We cannot return documents submitted during the application under any circumstances.

  5. Documents certifying Japanese language ability
    Copy of Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) certificate for example.
  6. Copy of residence card
    Most recent.
  7. Copy of passport

  8. Personal profile
    Fill in and submit personal profile designated by the University, covering your career up to the time of application.
  9. Certificate of (expected) graduation from Japanese language school
    Form prescribed by Japanese language school.
  10. Academic transcript from Japanese language school

9. and 10. are for applicants enrolled in Japanese language school.

International student admissions Scholarship schemes

This is the University’s own scholarship system for students who have passed the entrance examination for international students and have completed the enrolment procedures, with scholarships available from the first year of study.We have prepared this system so that students studying in Japan can make use of it as much as possible.   1. An overseas study fee is required for those wishing to take the “Overseas Cultural Seminar”.
  2. Includes “Gakkensai”personal accident insurance fee (2,650 yen) and liability insurance fee (1,360 yen) (2025 results).
  3. Entrance fee”, “Alumni association fee” and “Accident insurance fee” etc. are required only for the first year.

Selection Criteria

  • Students in 1st year who have been admitted through the International Student Entrance Examination and whose status of residence is “Student”.
  • Students in 2nd to 4th year (2nd year and onwards) with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Grant Period

The grant will be renewed every year for four years of study.

Grant Amount

The amount of the grant is 300,000 yen per year.

Grant Time and Procedure

The Scholarship for International Students will be granted in October when autumn tuition fees are paid, offset against tuition fees.

  • Successful applicants must complete the enrolment procedures in accordance with the ‘Admission Instructions’ mailed with their letter of acceptance.
  • Please pay the required fees (enrollment fee, Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (“Gakkensai”), Personal Liability Insurance) by the deadline.
  • Once paid, fees are non-refundable.
